Press Release
SKOP – Solidarjetà u Koperazzjoni A New Name for the National Platform of Maltese NGDOs
The National Platform of Maltese NGDOs is launching its new name SKOP. SKOP stands for ‘Solidarjetà u Koperazzjoni’.
The new name for the Platform is being launched at a symbolically appropriate time coinciding with the European Community’s Development Days, reminding people that development issues should be central and key in all our policies at both the national level and the EU level.
The Platform would also like to take the opportunity to welcome the publishing of the long overdue Overseas Development Policy. SKOP looks forward to further dialogue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the Policy itself and about the proposed future action plan.
The Platform has been active for the past six years and was especially involved in presenting a common voice of its members with the Government on development issues. It has been advocating for an Overseas Development Policy ever since its inception in June 2001, also advocating for better and more effective Overseas Development Aid, amongst other issues.
Recently it has also collaborated with Medecins du Monde on their mission in Malta.
